At our church, some people like to fill their mugs with coffee. So we needed to raise the coffee pot up higher.

Always striving to put my best foot forward, when it comes to doing anything for the church, I decided to make a pedestal that matched the shape of the pot. I cut cedar staves to make a round side for the pedestal.
The coffee pot has a cut out at the base, for a drip catcher. To accommodate this, I replace 5 of the 5/16” staves with some deep staves, that could be cut out later.

Tape the outside of the staves, then flip them over and apply glue to the joints. Then with a band clamp, tighten it up.
Using a “Russian Tourniquet”, I spliced some ¼” thick redwood together, for the top and bottom.

With my clamping cauls, I finished up the final gluing.

Next step is to trim off the excess ¼” redwood.

Then cut out and sand the arc, for the coffee drip catcher.
Round off everything with a roundover bit.

Four coats of wipe on polyurethane, and it’s ready to go.

Now it’s easy to get at mug under the pot.
