PUZZLE BOARD

I made this puzzle board for my wife’s mother. At 100 years old she found it was getting hard to lean forward for very long, to work on puzzles.

I wanted to come up with a design that would not only tip the board up, but also bring the board down closer to the person sitting in the chair. I settled on an idea of pivoting the top part way up. From this picture note how the base hangs over the edge of the table so that the board won’t slide away.

To make the notches I clamped the two boards together and drilled a ¾” hole with a forstner bit.

I made the frame adjustable for many angles.

I used white Masonite for the top. I stretched thin foam shelf liner across the top to keep the puzzle pieces from sliding.

It does a real good job of holding the pieces in place.
