For years I’ve been wanting to build a bandsaw box. I’ve always been intrigued by all the fancy shapes that people make.

I had some cedar logs that I cut up earlier that looked like the right size for a beginner project. WHAT A BEAUT! It takes some imagination to think that something nice could come out of something as ugly as this.

The first slice on the bandsaw sled reveals some nice color. Off to a good start!
Keep cutting to get to a workable rectangular shape, while avoiding the splits in the log.
While I had the bandsaw sled out, I cut up some more logs. Lots of beautiful cedar.
I came up with a pattern, and traced it out onto the block.
I didn’t bother showing the process of making the box, since there are so many tutorials and youtube videos out that already explain the process. I did decide to try “flocking” the drawers. Something I’ve never done before. It was very easy, and a great addition to it.
To open the drawers, I bored finger holes in the back, for pushing the drawers out.
I was pleased with all the colors that showed on the finished project.
