Thirty years ago I salvaged some formica covered cabinet doors just so I could keep the hinges. I cut up one of the doors to make two playing card holders for my kids.

I just ripped them to 1 ¼” wide. Then I raised the blade to rip a ½” deep slot down the middle, beveled at 7 ½ degrees.

In the next thirty years I’ll bet I’ve made 20 of them for neighbors, friends, and relatives. Just this week I pulled out still another one of the cabinet doors to make two more for an elderly couple that had trouble holding their cards. While I was at it I cut up the entire door for more spares.
